As a Project-InternTM intern, you will have the unique opportunity to take on a variety of exciting projects that specifically relate to your areas of interest. By making it convenient and accessible to all Employers, Project-InternTM levels the playing field so that all students, regardless of Major or GPA, have an opportunity to gain relevant work experience. Most importantly, you can choose an internship that fits your schedule and pays what you need.
Getting started is simple. Select the Student Registration option at the top of the page. Once you completed this registration process, an e-mail will be sent to you with an access code. You must then return to the site and log back in; this time entering the code that you received. Thereafter, you will only need your User ID and Password. The next step is to complete your personal Profile (see Profile menu). Be sure to answer all questions. In particular, be sure to add your Core Competencies. By doing so, you will be able to distinquish yourself from other interns.
Employers will look for interns in one of two ways: the "Fish" or "Find" method. Under the Fish method, employers will create unique Project Profiles that will become viewable by registered interns. You will then have the opportunity to respond to the request outlined in the Profile. Once you respond, the employer will immediately receive an e-mail from you, indicating your interest. They will also receive a copy of your personal Profile. The Find method is the second approach by which employers search for interns. Here, they will use a menu-based tool to indicate exactly what type of project they want done. For example, they may request a Logo Design. Only those students that have designated Logo Design as a Core Competency will be revealed to the employer. The employer will then receive and potentially narrow the list to make a final selection. Subsequently, the employer will make contact with the interns of choice. To learn more about the process, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions.
